THE REAR VIEW

Am/Int'l Ch Rosend's Booker T, SOM CGC TT

Walk to the rear of the dog and view him from a distance of around 4 feet.

Is there a smooth unbroken line down from the back of his ears to the withers?

Are the shoulders smooth and not unduly covered with muscle?

Do the ribs taper to the rear without undue bulging through the chest area?

Are the rear pasterns straight and parallel to each other?

Are muscles visible, on both sides of the first and second thighs and is the breech musculation (inside of the leg) well developed?

Ch. Ashaud's Grand Illusion

Ask the handler to move the dog forward a few steps to allow the dog to free stand so you can see the true picture.

Rear of young dog at 10 months

Do not expect a young puppy to have
the same width through the hindquarters as a mature dog. (See 10 month old dog at right)
